ABSEILING at MT BUFFALO

BACKGROUND
Abseiling is a user friendly Activity that is suitable for most ages and levels of fitness. It is simply a method of Descending a Cliff by using ropes, Harnesses and various devices. Our organization has been running Recreational Educational and Corporate Abseiling at Mt Buffalo for over 10 Years.

SAFEGUARDS and COACHING
The Recreational Abseiling conducted by our organization has safeguards built in (called Belaying) where our staff can take over control of the descent if the participant has any problems.We also have a coaching rope on all of our smaller abseils (up to 100 Metres) and the dispatcher (the person who hooks you on) can even abseil over the edge with you (if necessary) to provide the level of coaching needed.

THE WARMER MONTHS ARE A GREAT TIME TO TRAVEL TO HIGHER AND COOLER AREAS SUCH AS MT BUFFALO. ABSEILING OF OF THESE AND OTHER CLIFFS IS AN AWSOME ADVENTURE

EQUIPMENT
Our Abseil ropes and equipment are purchased from reputable agencies and are purpose designed. The equipment used meets either Australian or International standards.

MT BUFFALO
The abseil sites at Mt Buffalo National Park are set amongst magnificent sub alpine flora with Alpine ash, Buffalo Sallee, and Snowgums. The ground covers and shrubs are a botanist's delight and there are numerous bird species on the mountain, you might even see a lyrebird or pardelote. There are views to Mt Bogong and Mt Kosciusko while the Ovens and Buckland Valleys below the cliffs are a patchwork of farms, orchards and remnant bushland. Mt Buffalo Gorge is 300 metres deep and the waterfalls are magnificent. You can enjoy your adventure amongst some of the most impressive scenery in Victoria.
At Mt Buffalo we conduct both Pre Booked (Normally Full day) or advertised (Normally Half Day) adventures. The following are the prices from November to May (Dearer in winter)

We can provide a range of full day and expedition (journey) adventures at Mt Buffalo and at other locations. This includes full day programs with a range of cliff sizes and challenges to suit a wide range of groups.

ADVERTISED ADVENTURES
We provide a range of excellent abseil adventures at My Buffalo which are conducted both a pre booked and as advertised adventures (on selected holidays and weekends)
Examples of some of our more popular short "Advertised" abseil adventures include:

Introductory 10 metre Abseils - (2.5 Hours) This site is located in a tree lined gully near the visitors car park and is suitable for all ages, but particularily for younger children. It has good viewing for parents and for photos while being a good introduction to the adventure. Advertised adventures $35 children, $45 Adults

10 METRE ABSEIL

Beginners abseils - (3Hours) For this adventure we use our 25 and 35 Metre sites with the 35 metre being located at Echo Point with an excellent aspect of the 1000 foot deep Mt Buffalo Gorge and its Magnificent North wall. This adventure is suitable for most ages and is a good challenge for the more adventurous. Advertised adventures from $77pp.

Adventure Abseils - (3.5 to 4 Hours) For this adventure we use our 35 Metre beginners site to warm up, then move to the excellent Dragon free fall 45 Metre descent which is one of the better abseils on Mt Buffalo. We have to top belay a small rock climb as an aspect of our return back to the top of the cliff which adds to the adventure. Advertised adventures from $99pp.
